Tierra Blanca, Gto., August 2, 2017.- University authorities led by the President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, inaugurated spaces in the Northeastern Interdisciplinary Center of the University of Guanajuato (CINUG for its acronym in Spanish), which will offer better conditions for the development of the functions of the student, academic and administrative communities in this venue.
The spaces built were: a multiple use court, an office building, the top floor of a classroom building, hazardous waste storage, livestock technical laboratory, a greenhouse, and a nursery, in which were invested more than $20,302,000 million from federal and state funds.
At the inauguration ceremony, the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted that this event represents the growth and development of the university, so he praised the work of who contributed on strengthening CINUG, whose social impact answers the ideals of the public university.
Hence, he revealed that briefly, the University's General Council will work on a proposal to give better institutional support to CINUG, and favor its strengthening.
He recognized CINUG as a great project, of regional reach; a product of sum of effort, continuous work and answers the mission of a public university which distinguishes for offering studies with quality, relevance and equity, and aspires to reach more people.
In the same sense, the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, sustained that the public university represents the ideal of equality in opportunities through the merit and effort of people, hence, when UG supported the creation of CINUG, considered the value and the potential of the youth in that region of the state.
Currently there are 250 students enrolled, so they have opportunity to study in a quality program; 85 of them are newcomers, so they will be the first on using these spaces, he mentioned.
The Director of Infrastructure and University Services, M. Eloy Juárez Sandoval detailed the constructions made, and highlighted that they are functional spaces, designed according the needs of CINUG's community, venue that already has a two-stories office building; a computing room, an equipped library, a psychology unit, a nursery unit, among other spaces.
He also added that they have a Food Laboratory and a Chemical laboratory, which are next to be functional; and they are building a hospitalization area and a nursery, among other constructions in the facade of CINUG's building.
As special guests: attended the Director of Student Development, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez; the Secretary of Tierra Blanca's City Hall, Lic. Candelario Ramírez Rodríguez, representing the engineer Ramiro González Colín; the Municipal President of Atarjea, Dr. José Luis Rivas Loyola; the Municipal President of Santa Catarina, T.S.U. Lázaro Cárdenas Cabrera; and the Syndical of the City hall of San Luis de la Paz, Laura Luz Calzada Guerrero, representing the mayor, Lic. Guillermo Rodríguez Contreras.
Also present in the ceremony were CINUG's coordinator, Ing. Alfredo Córdova Mosqueda; members of the directive team of the University of Guanajuato, and representatives of the student, academic and administrative communities.
