se-reune-en-la-ug-expertos-ugtoLeón, Guanajuato, August 3, 2017.-  With the purpose to attend the proposals of innovation and basic research and liaison activities in the soft condensed matter, the Fifth Annual Reunion of the Themed Network of Soft Condensed Matter was held in the University of Guanajuato (UG), which is coordinated by Dr. Alejandro Gil Villegas Montiel, professor-researcher at the Division of Sciences and Engineering of Campus León of UG.

During the opening ceremony Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of Campus León, explained that hosting this kind of events contributes to many aspects of college life, mainly "promotes the continuous and collaborative work through groups and research projects of multi-institutional research in great opportunities in topics of national interest."

On the other hand, the coordinator of the network, Dr. Gil-Villegas Montiel commented during the opening that "this reunion has been possible thanks to the support of the Direction of Themed Networks from CONACYT and the University of Guanajuato, (...) the themed network is one of the largest CONACYT has, with 81 networks, we are in the last process of adhesion of 235 members. This network has the honor to have a National Award of Science such as Dr. Magdaleno Medina Noyola and a Mexican Academy of Science Award, from young researchers such as Dr. Ramón Castañeda Priego, who is also a pride of the university, a member of the Division".

The network is composed by associated researchers from United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Spain and Ukraine. Receives direct support from the themed networks of the National Council of Science and Technology (CONACYT).

The opening act had the presence of Dr. Arturo Lara López, Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of the State of Guanajuato who explained that the mission of this gathering is the search of the impact of research in society.

Accompanying in the presidium the Rector of Campus Leon, were: Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro, Director of Liaison of UG; Dr. Juan Antonio Rodríguez González, Academic Secretary of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities and Dr. Jesús Bernal Alvarado, Academic Secretary of the Division of Sciences and Engineering.

This encounter has the participation of hundreds of researchers from universities and research centers of 18 states of the Mexican Republic: Guanajuato, San Luis Potosí, Puebla, Sonora, Nuevo León, Chiapas, Chihuahua, Hidalgo, Querétaro, Zacatecas, Veracruz, Estado de México, CDMX, Yucatán, Michoacán, Jalisco, Baja California Norte, Nuevo León. Also, Notre Dame University of United States of America.

The soft condensed matter is commonly found in polymers, colloids, biomaterials, glass, plastic, liquid crystals. Its use goes back to the petrol-chemical industry, of materials, pharmaceutical and biomedical.
