Salamanca, Gto. August 8, 2017.- Thanks to the collaboration between the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain (UVA), Paulo Antonio Delgado Arredondo, obtained the Doctor in Electrical Engineering degree, becoming the first student to obtain a double degree in this program in both institutions.
At the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, the doctoral student presented the receptive examination of his project "Diagnóstico de motores eléctricos para la localización de fallas incipientes" (Diagnosis of electrical engines to locate early faults), work that results in two publications in indexed magazines: Mechanical Systems and Signal Processing of Elsevier and Shock and Vibration of Hindaw, which after a short time of being published has already been quoted 12 times in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR).
"Taking this double degree program and had been in the Universidad de Valladolid was a very grateful experience, it completely changed my perspective of research in Mexico, because I had no idea how good research made at University of Guanajuato is made and could realize that we are at the level of any country", assured Paulo Delgado.
In his opinion, having concluded the double program, works to consolidate the program of the doctorate in Electrical Engineering, which proves to be designed to be at the level of any postgraduate in the international level.
During the defense of his thesis, he was accompanied by his advisors, Dr. René de Jesús Romero Troncoso, professor of the Department of Electrical Engineer, national researcher level III and member of the advisory committees of such system, who highlighted that the work of the student has had an impact, since researchers from all over the world are reading his contributions.
His co-advisor, also present, Dr. Daniel Moríñigo Sotelo, professor of the School of Industrial Engineering of the Universidad de Valladolid, explained the since 2010 is collaborating with Dr. Romero's group in topics related to the quality of the electrical energy and detection of faults in electrical engines.
UVA's professor commented that the scientific relationship with Dr. Romero is quite fruitful, since they already have more than 12 JCR papers presented in congresses, and in addition of the doctoral thesis of Pablo Delgado, they are preparing a Spanish student in codirection with Dr. Romero Troncoso.
