Guanajuato, Gto., August 17, 2017.- From August 23 to 25, in the Ernesto Scheffler Auditorium of the venue Valenciana of Campus Guanajuato, will be held the XV Journeys of History that, this edition, will have as main topic the "reflections and debates regarding History and inter discipline."
This was informed by Dr. Oscar Sánchez Rangel, from the Department of History of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH), who presides the organizing committee of the event next to Dr. Malú Cueva Tazzer with the accompaniment of the Director of the Department of History, Dr. Graciela Velazquez Delgado, as well as the Coordinator of the Master degree in History (Interdisciplinary Historical Studies), Dr. Gerardo Martínez Delgado.
Dr. Sánchez Rangel highlighted that the decision to name the present edition of the Journeys as "Reflections and debates regarding History and inter discipline", answers the interest to propitiate a debate between the professors of the educational programs of bachelor degrees and postgraduate in History about the role the interdisciplinary work has in their professional performance.
Generally, he extended, to exchange opinions about the role studies have today and the interdisciplinary analysis in the development of Social Sciences and Humanities; "with the priority purpose to rethink and strengthen the objective and the general orientation of the Master in History", program in which currently, the 14th cohort is enrolled.
Dr. Sánchez reminded that the Journeys in History are organized since 2003 and, since then, every year these encounters dedicate to the reflection on a specific topic on the doing of the historians and the works organized through different tables where they address views derived from the general theme.
For the last fifteen years, the addressed topics have been diverse, for example, the reach and challenges in the professionalization of the historian, the ancient history of Guanajuato, the past, the present of the Mexican field and its actors, the methods for history, the study of cartography and imagery, the constitutional trajectory in Mexico, among others.
This year, the Journeys will be distributed in different sessions which will have master conferences, four work tables and an editorial presentation, as well as a round table for a final discussion. The work tables will have the following topics: "History, society and power"; "Historical speech, modernity and science"; "Culture, history, and anthropology" and "Tell and narrate: history, economy and society."
