León, Gto., August 19, 2017.- With research projects and activities that were part of their Professional Social Service, 10 interns from the degree in Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation of the University of Guanajuato (UG), worked together with the "Instituto Guanajuatense para las Personas con Discapacidad (INGUDIS)" to give attention to the population from Silao, Irapuato, San Francisco del Rincón and Dolores Hidalgo.

Eduardo Ramírez Pérez, Ana Rosa Díaz Guzmán, Elizabeth Alvarado, Kimberly Guzmán and Rocio Armendáriz made their professional social service in the State Rehabilitation Center in Irapuato; Geraldine Ramírez, María Patiño and Flor Irazú Solís made theirs at the Center for the Comprehensive Development of the Family (DIF) of Silao. In the case of María Fernanda Gutiérrez gave support in the DIF at San Francisco and Sheila Guadalupe Juárez made it in the Municipal Unit of Rehabilitation in Dolores Hidalgo.

During the year of service in mentioned cities, they offered physiotherapy to neurological patients and orthopedic patients; also, they gave therapy with robotics, early stimulation and neurotherapy.

Likewise, they invited the family parents to participate in talks about health prevention and attended children, youth and adults who required attention.

In an interview, the students commented part of the activities they made and what they learned: "within the area of physical therapy we could treat neurological and orthopedic patients, cardio respiratory groups of amputees" mentioned Elizabeth Alvarado.

Rocio Armendáriz indicated that they could treat amputees and Ana Rosa Díaz highlighted the work done in hydrotherapy where they used whirlpool tubs to attend adults.

The different research projects developed focused in the identification of risk factors both postural and ergonomic, in addition of improving the attention for patients with motor disorders, they elaborated a hygiene program for primary care of patients with cerebral paralysis. Likewise, they gave prevention workshops for different pathologies and degenerative diseases in adults.

The students of the University of Guanajuato reaffirm their commitment with society and the responsibility facing the needs of health of the population.
