Guanajuato, Gto., August 28, 2017.- For the second year in a row, began the activities of the Program of Encouragement to Read which is developed in basic education schools by students and professors from the degrees in Spanish Languages and Philosophy of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

This time, they began in the school "Amado Nervo", located in Valenciana, with a talk about the Mexican poet who gave the name to this school. The talk was given by Dr. Andreas Kurz, director of the Department of Spanish Languages.

Dr. Kurz told the little students from the only group in the school, the most important aspects of the life and work of Amado Nervo, in a journey where the children had the opportunity to know new forms to express their feelings.

M. Yubicela Medrano Castillo helped in the dynamic, and she is responsible of the group of 43 students from different grades, from first to sixth grades.

Dr. Asunción Rangel López was also present, she is the Coordinator of the Program, who reminded that the program seeks to encourage in the children in basic education –elementary and middle school—to approach the books, as well as creative and artistic activities.

At the "Amado Nervo" school, she said, is the second time the program happens, where in addition of the professors talking with the children, the social service youth develop mini workshops to create, draw and other activities.

Also, they are in the elementary schools at San Clemente, the school "Juan B. Diosdado" and in Villaseca, the school "Juan B. Bautista", where young college students can retribute and have a real liaison with society and the university, through the college social service and the professional social service.

Finally, she mentioned that for this semester they have the support of the Direction of Support for Research and Postgraduate from UG, to buy books and material, as well as contributions from the university authorities and from Campus Guanajuato.
