alumno-ug-conjunta-sus-dos-pasiones-quimica-y-japones-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., August 29, 2017.- From a very young age, Pavel Ulianov García Cruz, student of the degree in Chemistry of the Division of Natural and Exact Sciences of Campus Guanajuato, has been in love with chemistry, science that has been around his life and has left him great satisfactions and outstanding achievements.

"My taste for Chemistry emerged since I was a kid thanks to my parents, this led me here where I stand today, it has been my curiosity (...) always wondered why things happened and the first contact with chemistry was thanks to my big brother, he gave me my first chemistry class."

Currently, he is working on his thesis, and the experimental part began on last year's summer during his stay in Warsaw, at the Polish Institute of Physical Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences, where he focused on the project "Development of Electrochemical sensors from Organic-metallic polymers", aimed for the specific detection of nitrosamine toxins, which can produce during the preservation process of different meat products.

"What thrives me is learning new things, in a research project the important thing is to generate knowledge and if in addition you manage to obtain a method or a process with a specific mean, one as a science student feels realized, because you create something in favor of solving some problem."

Besides Chemistry, Pavel Ulianov has a great passion for the Japanese culture and its language; and he could do both.

Derived from his passion for the rising sun country, García Cruz has studied the Japanese language for 10 years and in this year's summer, participated in the fourth Exchange Program Mexico-Japan in Onjuku, where 10 students were selected throughout the country to perfect the language, being the only one selected from the state of Guanajuato. "It was an enriching experience regarding the development of the language and knowing the culture first hand."

Once he finishes his thesis, Pavel explains that he will continue with his postgraduate studies, be that participating in the double degree program offered by the University of Guanajuato with the Nagaoka University in Japan or accepting the scholarship offered this summer at the Chiba Technology University in the same country.

Recently, the college student received the Youth State Award 2017 in the category "Academy and Technology" for his career, performance and dedication throughout his life.

About the award he mentions: "It is very gratifying and there is a commitment with all the young students in the state, because it's not only receiving the award, you become a role model."

The recognition, he adds "makes me feel realized, grateful and committed, because it is about recognizing my trajectory and life project; this award not only rewards six people, recognizes the talent of young brilliant minds who are developing projects with great impact in the state of Guanajuato."
