estudiante-ug-propone-cero-hambre-ug-ugtoCelaya, Gto., August 30, 2017.- For Luis Fernando Ortega García; decreasing the early fasts of the people of the community La Gavia, in Cortazar, Guanajuato, which is considered in a high grade or margination; is a dream that became a project and hopes he can concrete in the short term.

Winner of the third place in the category of Social Entrepreneurship in the 12th Edition of the Contest of Creativity and Innovation, organized by the University of Guanajuato and the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property, the young Nutrition student at the mentioned university, dreams to make his project "Cero Hambre" (Zero Hunger) a reality in La Gavia.

This community has a population of 1,432 habitants, a high margination and abundant nopales and tunas. Luis Fernando pretends to address the food problem of the vulnerable population and avoid the prolonged food fast, because he worries about the physiological problems this may cause and could influence in acute cases of malnourishment which van generate anemia, mental retardation or blindness.

Ending famine may look like everybody's dream, it can even sound as the greatest utopia of humankind, but not when the problem is focused, and it concentrates in a population group, address the variables that cause it and propose a comprehensive and multidisciplinary action to the phenomenon. This is what Luis Fernando proposes, which makes it reachable.

It is about an interdisciplinary project that covers topics of education, health, productive projects, and the intervention of a team of professionals of the different areas of knowledge: psychologists, biotechnologists, nutritionists, nurses, therapists, agronomists, who would work to diminish malnourishment in the community a 30% in 9 months and reach safe nourishment for the inhabitants to a 40% in 7 months.

"With this action, we would be addressing the second objective of sustainable development stipulated by UN called "Zero Hunger" which in addition of ending famine, pretends to achieve safe nourishment, improve the nutrition and propose a sustainable agriculture", says confident.

The project is planned, he assures, with clear goals, the reach is set, as well as the phases and coherent methodology, but he recognizes that it is necessary to negotiate resources to make it possible.
