León, Gto. August 30, 2017.- Researchers of Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato (UG) informed in a press conference the details of the Course Cultural Heritage and Practices: Interdisciplinary Approach and the Fifth International University Colloquium which will begin on September, both options have the objective to strengthen the formation of students, professionals and have an approach with society to treat topics about cultural heritage and managing culture.
Dr. Alejandro Mercado Villalobos, Dr. José de Jesús Cordero Domínguez, Dr. Carlota Laura Meneses Sánchez and Dr. Mónica Elivier Sánchez González are responsible for providing information about the activities scheduled for the second semester of the year. On one hand, the diploma will be from September 2 to December 9 this year; the program consists in four modules which must be taken in 100hrs and it is a degree option for students at the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities, in addition it offers an update and specialization in the topic that will allow the attendants to improve their work.
Dr. Mónica Elivier Sánchez González commented on the transcendence of offering the course and open spaces for the analysis in those topics, "we seek to provide those tools and bring to the Leon's context this prevailing need to professionalize students with a sound criterion in terms of both personal and professional formation in the area related with arts and culture."
The members of the Academic Body Interdisciplinary Studies about Culture were responsible for designing the course and organizing the activities of the V International University Colloquium held from September 11 – 15 at the Jorge Ibargüengoitia Auditorium at the venue Forum. This event integrates talks, courses and workshops which have no cost and the students can make theoretical and practical work.
Likewise, there will be editorial presentations of the members of the academic bodies of the Department of Cultural Studies of UG. The colloquium joins the activities of the Academic Week which is organized by the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities.
At the end of the press conference, the first session of the semester August-December of the Seminar of Culture and Heritage took place with the conference "Patrimonio Cultural de la Universidad de Guanajuato" dictated by Dr. María Guevara Sanginés; ascribed to the Department of Law of UG.
In her intervention, she commented on the importance of preserving, conserving and restore the patrimonial goods of the institution which by the university regulations are known as precious goods where we can find movable and immovable property. She mentioned there are buildings, photographs, documents, paintings, ceramic items and other goods with a great social and historical value.
"It is very important to know the history of the University of Guanajuato and its good, how they entered the university patrimony and that we have a lot to do, to conserve and produce for future generations."
