investigador-ug-realiza-investigacion-sobre-particulas-ugtoLeón, Guanajuato a 31 de agosto de 2017.- Julio César Armas Pérez, Ph.D., professor-researcher of the University of Guanajuato (UG) and member of the Department of Chemistry, Electronical and Biomedical Engineering of Campus León, published in the magazine ACS Nano (American Chemical Society), his research on numeric simulations focused to the study of new materials titled "Directed Self-Assembly of Colloidal Particles onto Nematic Liquid Crystalline Defects Engineered by Chemically Patterned Surfaces".

The research was done in collaboration with the University of Chicago to present the dispersion of the colloidal particles in liquid crystals. It is an experimental work based on simulations and a mathematical process created by UG's scholar.

To identify where the liquid crystals can be found, Dr. Armas identified as an example that these are in screens, TVs, and cell phones, he explained that "when we disperse these particles we find they can assembled spontaneously to fabricate other materials."

Likewise, he informed that this type of research opens a new panorama on Molecular Engineering to develop new materials in Photonics, so people that use a laser can have appropriate materials for determined applications in optics.

Also, he mentioned that this research is the combination of a result that can be obtained in a laboratory and a mathematical description to understand this phenomenon.

Finally, the researcher sends an invitation to all young researchers: "Let us be confident that we can make frontier research and we can work together with other institutions."
