
Guanajuato, Gto. September 4, 2017.- Professor Jesús Antonio Borja Pérez takes to children and youth activities that reinforce the taste for reading, with the support of Campus Leon of the University of Guanajuato (UG), through a reading encouragement program held in the Bicentennial Guanajuato Park.
During the semester Jan-Jun 2017, he assisted more than 5,200 people from children to college students, receiving each group with different dynamic resources, according their age and context. By the end 2017, they expect to assist a bit more of 10,000 people.
During the visits, Prof. Borja talks to them about the importance of reading for their life and not only for education or school; he said that he uses books, sometimes they read stories by Jorge Ibargüengoitia who created very interesting texts for children, as well as fragments from "La Suave Patria" by Ramón López Velarde, or talks about the great writer, Borges.
He assured that they have had a favorable response, since they have received invitations from many educational institutions to encourage their students to read. He explained that this program and the diffusion in schools is free, since the main objective is to spread the importance of reading.
The Guanajuato HS professor, assured that the habit of reading eases life, and children should know is wonderful because it allows to discover new things. He affirms that it should never be an obligation, since reading is totally personal such as eating, or love, and currently, the children are more awake, so reading may be easier.
This program of promotion and encouragement of reading has alternate activities, such as creating small commercials at Radio UG with various texts and songs; also, they visit Social Rehabilitation Centers where they read to the inmates.
He has always promoted reading, and has sought different forms for the youth to get involved with their heritage, and understands that reading is a powerful tool and allows an easier path to meet the objectives.
He invited people to get involved in any cultural activity near them, he assured that any institution with this kind of actions is an institution concerned to improve the conditions of life of the people, and the more we get, we will have a better society.
To whomever is interested in the presentations done in the Bicentennial Guanajuato Park, activities will restart in September every Wednesday from 11:00 to 15:00hrs.
