Guanajuato, Gto., September 10, 2017.- A total of 50 scholars of the University of Guanajuato (UG) entered or maintained in the National Researchers System (SNI). This consolidates the institution as a referent in the development of new knowledge.
"Before this evaluation, we'd have nearly 56% of the members in the SNI in the state." This means, each one of the researchers of Guanajuato is a Full-Time Professor (PTC) at UG, mentioned Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil, Director of Support for Research and Postgraduate (DAIP).
After the last results published by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), UG has 548 members in the SNI; this means that the quality and contributions of more than half of the PTCs are recognized by their academic peers.
The registry is valid from January 1, 2018, explained Dr. Napsuciale, who then mentioned that the results represent an increase of approximately 10% in the number of UG members who are in the National Researchers System.
He highlights the entry to level III of both Dr. Silvio Zaina, of the Department of Medical Sciences of Campus León, and, Dr. Eduardo Peña Cabrera, of the Department of Chemistry of Campus Guanajuato. This category is accessible only for who are renowned as national and international leaders in research, distinguished by the quality of their work and a high scientific productivity.
On the matter, Dr. Napsuciale emphasized that the capability of research the University has developed, is shown in these indicators, now the challenge is to use that capability to influence in the problems the region has.
In the state, the University is a referent in research and is strong in all knowledge areas –natural and exact sciences, engineering, social sciences, etcetera—, therefore, the institution must take this job very seriously, and, contribute to the solution of problems, affirmed DAIP's Director.
