
León, Gto., September 6, 2017.- With the purpose to train youth virtually, members of non-governmental organizations, businesses and institutions focused in sustainability, with financing from the German government, Dr. Edgar Vázquez Núñez, professor-researcher of the Department of Chemical, Electronic and Biomedical Engineering of the University of Guanajuato (UG), traveled to South Africa to participate in the meeting for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD Expert Net), in which he has been a member for four years.
This organism gathers experts in different ambiences of education in one global society.
In an interview, Dr. Vázquez, ascribed to the Division of Sciences and Engineering at Campus León of UG, informed that, the training seeks people who are interested in the topic whose objective focuses on education for sustainable development.
He mentioned there are enrollment grants, and transport grants to the city of Bonn, Germany, with the purpose to participate in the Conference of the United Nations about climate change (COP 23) in November, so he invites whomever is interested to join the project.
He added that the training lasts six months, and they pretend for the city of Leon to host the international meeting with members from South Africa, Germany, India and Mexico to promote the results and discuss about priority activities of the participants in topics of sustainable development.
He said that the finality is "to encourage the work and proposition of a declaration of the city of León for the climatic change and sustainability."
To conclude, he commented that, this organization allows people to understand the effects of their own behavior in future generations and trains them to act responsibly in a complex world.
