
León, Gto., September 7, 2017.- From the hands of the State Governor of Tlaxcala, M. Marco Antonio Mena Rodríguez, the student José Ramón Villanueva Valencia who is currently studying the doctorate in Physics at the University of Guanajuato (UG) at Campus Leon, was recognized and won the first place in the Youth State Award Tlaxcala 2017 in the category Science and Technology.
The award was given because of the study of molecular, dynamic and structural properties in the analysis of soft materials, using neutron dispersion techniques in the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA.
In an interview, José Villanueva mentioned: "This project left me the taste and satisfaction that the governor of Tlaxcala recognizes the work I'm doing in Physics and science. On the other hand, my stay at NIST gives me the chance to participate in an interdisciplinary project in which you can study and attack problems of Medicine, Chemistry, Biology and Physics interest."
José Ramón Villanueva Valencia studied the degree in Physics in the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla (BUAP), and a Master degree at UG, same as a Ph.D. in Physics; his advisor is Ramón Castañeda Priego, who belongs to the Division of Sciences and Engineering at Campus León.
