Guanajuato, Gto., September 12, 2017.- After an evaluation by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), the magazine "Acta Universitaria" was reclassified, to be acknowledged with international competence.

"Acta Universitaria" is a multidisciplinary, scientific magazine edited for over 27 years by the Direction for Support to Research and Postgraduate (DAIP) of the University of Guanajuato (UG). Approximately four years ago, Conacyt included the magazine in the index of Mexican magazines that divulge science, mentioned the editor of the publication and the Chief of the Department of Scientific Communication and Divulgation at DAIP, M. Gloria Eugenia Magaña Cota.

Recently, Conacyt modified its evaluation parameters, and in the new system, "Acta Universitaria" was evaluated as international competence, which will help in a greater projection to the researchers who publish in this magazine.

On the matter, M. Sonia Karina Aguirre Flores, associate editor of "Acta Universitaria", explained that Conacyt is currently evaluating the quality of the digital magazine, in which they consider aspects such as how much reach it has, how many consults, downloads, and how many people is reading it.

Reason why, at DAIP "we have made efforts to increase the visibility of our articles, so we could offer more interactive consult tools to the readers," so they can download images, tables, the PDF, etcetera. In addition, we also keep the printed version, added Sonia Aguirre.

"Acta Universitaria" publishes –for free—original articles from Mexican and foreign researchers; the printed edition is published every two months, although you can see it first in the digital version, in the section "Primero en línea" (Online first).

Throughout its history, the magazine has had an important evolution, remarked Gloria Magaña, who said "it is something worthy to recognize to the University, because, when a new magazine is created, there are many good intentions, but it is hard to keep publishing." "Acta Universitaria" is over 25 years old, and that represents "an important institutional achievement", especially because it implies a lot of work which generally is unseen.

The digital version of the magazine is available for the public on the website www.actauniversitaria.ugto.mx. The requirements are there for whomever is interested in publishing their work.
