
León, Guanajuato. September 15, 2017.- Students of the educational program for Medical Surgeon of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Campus León, will travel to Kyoto, Japan, and participate in the 23rd Neurology World Congress, the most important of its kind.
The students are: Marcos Oswaldo Díaz Campos, Gabriel Santos Vázquez and Iván Quijas Aldana with the advice of the professors, Dr. Jaime Iván Castro Macias and Dr. Ricardo García Cázares.
During their stay, they will present two research posters. The first is about a case of a woman with mitochondrial myopathy, which is a genetic disease, and manifested mainly in infants, and this case, is the first to happen in Mexico with a late presentation, since the person who has it, is 22 years old.
The second poster is about the adverse work of the Wada Test, which evaluates the safety and effects of patients with epilepsy.
In an interview, Oswaldo Díaz, one of the students who will attend the congress, mentioned that "what we expect from this international congress is to make a good role, since the congress is divided into topics and where we will be participating (...) we are the only Mexican. We expect to turn those posters in scientific publications and magazines."
He added that "the impact presenting the posters will have, basically, is at the student level in the medic area and mostly, represent the University of Guanajuato, our country and to show that, at UG and the High Specialty Hospital of the Bajío, we are working with these patients and there has been an important progress in research on neurology", he finalized.
The 23rd World Congress of Neurology will be held from September 16-21 this year.
