arrancan-actividades-del-coloquio-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., September 19, 2017.- With an excellent program of master conferences, work tables, movie projections and editorial presentations, this past Monday began the "XII Coloquio Nacional Efraín Huerta de Lengua y Literatura", an academic event organized by the Society of Students of Spanish Languages (SALE Valenciana), of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG).

While this colloquium is taking places, the V Encuentro Nacional de Creación Literaria y Edición "Efrén Hernández" and the "III Jornadas Malditas: entre delirios y pesadillas (horror a la mexicana)" also converge. These will be held in various venues of the university, the Iconographic Museum of the Quijote, the "Casa de la Cultura" of Guanajuato and other institutions.

At the opening act, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of Campus Guanajuato, showed a special satisfaction seeing the curiosity of the student community transcends the classroom and reaches other spaces and audiences.

She mentioned that, for 12 years, the student community has had the task to gather around the figure of one of the most renowned writers in Mexico: Efraín Huerta; plus, the event has been complemented with the encounter of creation that carries the name of the extraordinary narrator Efrén Hernández and the "Jornadas Malditas."

Also, Dr. Rendón Huerta highlighted the work done by the organizers to liaise with different public and private instances. She thought of the homage to Dr. Eugenio Mancera, outstanding poet and professor who for 35 years created countless professionals, to be equally noticeable.

She applauded the initiative to recognize the work of the professors Luis Palacio Hernández and Ismael Rodríguez, two pillars of the degree in Spanish Languages who lend their names to sound master conferences.

She said that, Campus Guanajuato not only celebrates enthusiasm but the tenacity and commitment shown by generations of students to maintain the colloquium alive and present.

Dr. César Federico Macías Cervantes, Director of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of Campus Guanajuato, showed his satisfaction for these academic exchanges organized by and for the students: the "XII Coloquio Nacional Efraín Huerta", and the "V Encuentro Nacional de Creación Literaria y Edición "Efrén Hernández", which provide a place for the interest of many young people to create, and the "III Jornadas Malditas", which has been established as an inclusive activity for writers considered as "transgressors". He exhorted everyone to continue giving to mankind the necessary and pertinent words, "to leave our mirrors and project into society."

Dr. Andreas Kurz, Director of the Department of Spanish Languages at DCSH, celebrated this tradition created by the young, "tradition that is always alive, never in danger of stalling", because the colloquium gathers young talents, to whom he asked to continue "so us old people can continue listening to your passion for the word."

Yyari Vera Covarrubias, a student and coordinator, referred that these encounters emerged from the dream of a group of students in love with literature, inspired "by the poetry conceived of the muddy brain of the poet who lends the name", from Silao. Rodrigo Nevares Magaña, also a coordinator of the colloquium, also spoke to the audience. To the opening act attended Directors of Department, teachers and students.
