Guanajuato, Gto., September 19, 2017.- Thanks to a collaboration agreement between the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the Mexican Institute for Social Security (IMSS), a strategy to approach to the university community, services of prevention and promotion of health, will be implemented.
The agreement establishes that there will be actions from the PrevenIMSS program in the different venues of the university, which engulfs the services of prevention, in specific area such as the detection and control of diseases, sexual and reproductive health, plus medical attention to groups organized by sex and age.
On the matter, UG's President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, remarked the will from both sides to join efforts, because "without preventive strategies, there will be no budget enough" to address the problems of the health sector, he warned.
Likewise, he mentioned, as a university, "is our responsibility to create alliances" and emphasized on the positive impact of this agreement, which will influence in a community of nearly 50,000 people, between professors and students.
The agreement implies creating an activity and information calendar of the students, in addition of forming a Commission for Control and Follow up composed by representatives from both parts.
The IMSS's State Delegate, M. Sergio Andrés Santibáñez Vazquéz informed that the program that will be implemented in the venues of UG, are within one of the axes of the Nation's Health Policy, which is prevention. He highlighted the willingness of the university authorities to contribute in the construction of a culture of the selfcare of health.
Also, he mentioned that this agreement can guarantee the monitoring of the health of the college students, and in the next months, they'll have a diagnosis on how the UG community is. In addition, they will encourage a healthy lifestyle, together with the university and IMSS.
At the event was present: The Director of Student Development of UG, M. José Osvaldo Chávez Rodríguez; Attorney General, M. Mauricio Alejandro Murillo de la Rosa; the Director of "Red Médica", Dr. Daniel Pérez Cervantes; rectors and authorities from the four campuses and the high school.
From IMSS: The Sub-delegate of the Instituto, Lic. Luis Ignacio Gutiérrez Retana; the Chief of Coordination of Attention and Prevention of Health in Guanajuato, Dr. Gabriela Moramay Salazar Rocha; the Assistant Coordinator of Medical Negotiation, Dr. Alejandro Pizano Gamiño; the Chief of the Legal Headquarters, Lic. Luis Montes Villagomez, and the Chief of Social Communication, M. Adalberto Valadez Gutiérrez.
