Salamanca, Gto., September 19, 2017.- Within the framework of the collaboration agreement between the University of Guanajuato and the University of Hiroshima, the double degree program of the doctorate in Mechanical Engineering began, and will be taught in UG's venue Salamanca.

University authorities of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, professors and students of the doctorate, received the Vice President of the University of Hiroshima, Dr. Yasuo Yamane, to participate in a symbolic act of the oriental culture that represents constancy and commitment.

The doctorate students, Diego Armando Gómez Márquez and Fernando Cano Banda, received a Daruma doll, which represents the first Zen patriarch. The doll's owner paints the pupil of the right eye when he establishes his goal, and until this is fulfilled, he can paint the other eye. The eyes of the Daruma doll are used as a reminder and motivation to achieve great goals.

The Academic Secretary of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Martín Picón Nuñez, remembered that on March 1st, the agreement that broadened the collaboration between the institutions, was signed. The latter was subscribed between the President of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino and the President of the University of Hiroshima, Dr. Mitsuo Ochi.

The double degree program who began in the venue Salamanca of UG, the students will course the degree for three years, and they will make a year stay in the University of Hiroshima, explained the Director of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Dr. Elías Ledesma Orozco.

The Director of the Division of Engineering, Dr. Victor Ayala Ramírez, reaffirmed the intention to maintain the academic collaboration with the University of Hiroshima, which has great prestige in Japan for its strength in engineering and the development of new technologies for the automotive sector.

As for the Division of Engineering, the master and doctorate degrees in Mechanical Engineering are registered in the National Census of Quality Postgraduates (PNPC) of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt), and has many research lines: dynamic and robotics, design and manufacturing, and Thermofluids.
