Guanajuato, Gto., October 3, 2017.- The excellent preparation and dedication in her training, is without a doubt the brand of the student Mónicamiguel Muñoz Olmedo, who studies Law at the University of Guanajuato (UG) and who obtained the 3rd place in the President's Cup International Sambo and Combat Sambo Tournament London 2017.

The event was in London, England, where the student from the University of Guanajuato attended as part of the representative team of Mexico, after she obtained her pass at the Pan-American competitions that was held in Guadalajara de Buga, Colombia, last July.

Muñoz Olmedo had four combats in total; she defeated competitors from Scotland, England and Cyprus. This placed her at semifinals to face the Russian contender, Irina Gromova, who won the combat.

The classification resulted as follows:

1st place Irina Gromova - Russia
2nd place Francesca Aspey – United Kingdom
3rd place Sandra Szogedi – United States
3rd place Mónica Muñoz – Mexico

The participation of UG's athlete in this international competition, is an opportunity to occupy a better position in Sambo's world ranking and will wait for the result, before the world championship of this discipline which will be held in Sochi, Russia.
