estudiante-de-la-ug-crea-laboratorio-de-creacion-literaria-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., October 6, 2017.- With the purpose to promote reading and writing among the youth, the student of the Master degree in Arts of the University of Guanajuato (UG), Macaria España, runs a literary creation laboratory at the high school in Celaya.

This initiative began by participating in a summon issued by the Municipal System of Art and Culture of Celaya to promote reading, Macaria España presented her project and was selected, so she began with the laboratory she calls "Letróxico".

Thanks to the collaboration of the University of Guanajuato with the Municipal System of Art and Culture of Celaya, this past August, the laboratory began and will end on the next December, in it, nearly 15 students participate.

In an interview, Macaria España commented that many of the students who are in the lab had already been curios to write before the space was open, so she has had many surprises with young writers who construct their novels, stories or poems.

"The lad is every Tuesday from 15:00 to 17:00 at the HS Celaya's Library, we gather here and do writing exercises, also, before every session i give them a reading, either from a story or a compendium of poems, so we can comment and at the same time, analyze different styles and forms to create a story", she said.

One of the main interests for Macaria to achieve with this activity, if for more young writers to emerge and provide a space for who from an early age, have the intention to dedicate to write literature in a constant and serious way.

At the end of the first edition of the literary creation lab, they pretend to compile the texts of the students to make an anthology that will be published thanks to the support from the Municipal System of Art and Culture of Celaya.

To conclude, she thanked the University of Guanajuato for supporting and betting on culture and artistic expressions, for opening spaces so its students can explore their creativity and imagination.

It is worthy to mention, Macaria España is a narrator, independent journalist and screen writer. She is part of various anthologies: "La vida que él me da. Narrativa guanajuatense de la migración y la violencia" (2004), "El cuarto del escriba" (2005) & "Tiempo mixto" (2007), all published by the University of Guanajuato. Also, "Una cierta alegría de no saber a dónde vamos" (Instituto de Cultura de León, 2009) y "Cuentos del Sótano" (Endora, 2010). She recently published her first book on her own: "La Generación del Desencanto" (Pictographia, 2013).

She was a finalist of the story contest "Palabras Malditas" 2007 and had an honorific mention in the category of story in the Literature Award León 2010. Also, she had a scholarship from the Institute of Culture of Guanajuato in 2005 and 2008. She has been published in regional newspapers and magazines "Tragaluz", "Barca de Palabras" and "Dédalo".
