In her inaugural message, the Rector of Campus Celaya-Salvatierra, Dr. Graciela Ma. de la Luz Ruiz Aguilar, made a brief tour by the main cultural symbols and traditions of the region in which the Campus has influence: Celaya and its "Water tank", the wind instrument bands of Salvatierra and the culinary traditions, and "El Mayorazgo", a UG's venue and ancient reservoir of grains and products of the region.

"All this environment represents us and generates a cultural and educational space that shows how they were integrating the social, political, religious and educational practices in the zone", she remarked.

Speaking on how UG links with cultural forms and manifestations from other parts of the world; this favors for the students to communicate and collaborate in a wider social environment and have an impact in the quality of life of people who they have contact with. The rector referred to programs such as International Mobility, University Liaison and PAIS.

"This international projection in education demands that public universities in Mexico, to do deep research, to rescue, preserve and strengthen and divulge the intense cultural mosaic of the country", she said.

The Director of the System of Art and Culture of Celaya, mentioned that "culture is the way we live and how we relate with the world and others, the way how the human being expresses their being, thinking and feeling."

For this reason, he was pleased that culture finds many spaces to express itself and to be open for everyone, "it is the only way to generate a movement that transforms our society from the roots; without culture, there are no base changes", he emphasized.

The Multicultural Forum was designed by the Coordination of Comprehensive Development of the Student, and it considers the participation of the student community for three days in artistic workshops and conferences, where they'll acquire knowledge on the country's art of culture.

The Forum began with a handcraft exhibit and a talk about identity and multiculturality. The talk was given by Dr. Luis Enrique Ferro Vidal, Professor at Campus, as well as the conference dictated by the engineer Francisco Javier Gallego Hinojosa, who spoke about constructing a new cultural paradigm.

There will be multiple activities that will allow the expression of different social groups, not only from students, so we can fulfill the objectives of this cultural event, because "culture is alive and enjoyable", said the rector of campus.
