Salamanca, Gto. October 13, 2017.- The Division of Engineering of the University of Guanajuato (UG) received as a donation, a scale 1:10 autonomous control robotic vehicle from the Free University of Berlin.

The institution founded in Germany in 1948, donated vehicles to various Mexican universities, among them the University of Guanajuato, to promote the hardware and software development for robotic vehicles.

The project was an initiative of Raúl Rojas González, professor of the Free University of Berlin, awarded in 2015 as the best engineering professor in Germany. The Mexican researcher coursed the degree and master in mathematics at the Physics & Mathematics Superior School of the Instituto Politécnico Nacional (IPN).

The Director of the Division of Engineering, Victor Ayala Ramírez, received the donation made to the IPN where General Director, Dr. Enrique Fernández Fassnacht presided the ceremony, accompanied by Raúl Rojas as project leader, as well as Rudolf de Baey, Director of the Goethe-Institut México.

The scale robotic vehicles will help in strengthening the formation of the students of the benefited institutions. They weigh 3,5kg and has a navigation system, intelligent control, 360° view cameras, and a laser system to detect obstacles.

Victor Ayala reaffirmed his commitment to promote the student's comprehensive development of the community of the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato – Salamanca of UG, and considered that this donation is a tool that will help them be at the vanguard of knowledge.

It is worthy to mention that in 2016, the Free University of Berlin gave similar cars to other institutions and Mexican research centers, and in April this year, the first scale autonomous car race was held at the IPN.
