León, Gto September 28, 2017.- Within the commemoration of the World Food Day, at the venue San Carlos of Campus Leon, activities were held with the purpose to analyze the aspects related to the topic of migration which is the topic of 2017 edition.
Damaris Juárez Bendito gave the conference titled "La migración, una lucha por la igualdad", where she mentions that the work done in the Center of Indigenous Development of the Loyola Community, has gained supporters to provide attention to migrant children, men and women living in vulnerable conditions.
In her participation, Dr. Juárez, mentioned that the main factors that make the families to move from their place of origin are the slim job opportunities, low salary, access to education and health. Also, she highlighted that "United States of America is the country with the largest number of migrants in the world and Mexico has urban migration, where people migrate to big cities to search for a better quality of life." She added that Zacatecas, Michoacán and Guanajuato are the three entities of the Mexican Republic with many people who travel to the country up north.
This year, the celebration of the World Food Day has the motto "Shape the future of migration. Invest in food safety and rural development", same title of the conference offered by Dr. Luz Elvia Vera Becerra, Coordinator of the degree in Nutrition at UG, where she explained the implications of food unsafety of people who live in the rural areas, where we find high indexes of poverty, low production of food, consumption of low-cost-nutritional food.
She mentioned that the problem of food unsafety is multifactor, hence, professionals of health must work together to provide a comprehensive attention, "the great challenge of the nutritionist will be to send the right messages to people so they can understand how a proper nourishment is established and not necessarily expensive."
At the opening act were present: M. Cipriana Caudillo Cisneros, Academic Secretary of the Division of Health Sciences, M. Maria del Pilar Fernández Carrasco, Coordinator of Teaching at the Division, and M. César Armando Castellano Pérez, Coordinator of Support for Research and Postgraduate of the Campus.
