Salamanca, Gto., October 20, 2017.- The Master Degree in Mechanical Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca of the University of Guanajuato (UG), reaffirmed the certification as a program of International Competence of the National Program of Quality Postgraduates (PNPC) of the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt).

This is a certification from the Public Education Department (SEP) and Conacyt to the programs who have collaborations in the international ambience through agreements that include student and professor's mobility, thesis co-direction and joint research projects.

Dr. Agustín Vidal Lesso, Coordinator of the Postgraduate in Mechanical Engineering, highlighted that thanks to the faculty staff at the department, they were able to achieve this goal, in addition, they informed that in the period 2014-2017, 23 master degree students participated in mobility thanks to research stays abroad.

The destiny institutions for student stays are Texas A&M University (USA), Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain), Rochester Institute of Technology (USA), The Ohio State University (USA), Universität Hannover (Germany), Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (USA), Instituto de Microelectrónica de Barcelona (Spain), Universite Catholique de Louvain (Belgium), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), the Italian Agency for the development of new technologies, energies and sustainable economic development, best known as ENEA, and Arizona State University (USA).

In the same period, two students made a national research stay in the Center for Research in Micro and Nanotechnologies of the Universidad Veracruzana (MICRONA-UV) and in the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), respectively.

The Master degree in Mechanical Engineering taught in the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, was created in 1975 and in 1986 was recognized as one of the best in Mexico. After obtaining the consolidated program status, in 2014 achieved the certification of international competence, valid for three years, and considered the pinnacle of the PNPC.

Today, the master degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Electrical Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca are in the maximum level of the PNPC.
