León, Gto., October 27, 2017.- As part of the activities of the seminar of Culture and Heritage 2017, there was a conference "Challenges and perspectives of the audiovisual heritage", with the participation of Dr. Maricruz Romero Ugalde, professor-researcher of the Department of Social Studies at Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG), who exposed her perspective about the pertinence of the topic and the importance of producing, preserving and researching.

Dr. Romero commented that the "audiovisual heritage is a live heritage that begins as material and through time and other factors, transforms in immaterial", because first, it is about registries of the social reality, of the culture of a group or a nation and its diversity, in addition of being elements that strengthen the collective memory.

Worthy to mention, Dr. Maricruz Romero is Coordinator of the Laboratory of Teaching and National Scientific Research Interpretative Audiovisual Ethnography (ETNOAI for its acronym in Spanish), where she makes research through cinematographic language, hence, she mentioned the challenges faced in this industry and the need to collectively work with professional from different areas to have different perspectives that allow to enrich the research, production, distribution and exhibition of the generated materials.

As ETNOAI's coordinator, she mentions that her work has to do with the registry of conducts, values, and current forms of expression in the state of Guanajuato. The fact of working dialogically with the social actors who are part of the research, whose re-signification is made through the cinematographic language, "what we are trying to do is work with people who somehow are significant, so children and youth know Guanajuato from another perspective."

She added that the technological progresses have allowed a larger number of audiovisual productions with greater reach thanks to the digital platforms, which at the same time, allows to construct new social environments that favors the forms in which they participate and social inclusion , although there's a challenge in generating quality contents, as well as the technological alphabetization so it allows the construction of new cultures with consumer of more conscious contents seen through different means of communication.
