León, Gto October 26, 2017.- Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) reaffirms its commitment with education by offering programs found within the National Program of Quality Postgraduate (PNPC), category granted by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) that has the purpose to acknowledge the capability to form the postgraduate programs and values the fulfillment of pertinence and quality standards.

In this context, the Specialty in Cardiology at Campus León, obtained the certification as a program in development from the PNPC. The latter will allow the improvement plan to work for two years to fulfill all the criterion for their consolidation, stage where the educational program has a greater projection in the national level to create high-level human resources, for their academic productivity and for the work with different sectors of society.

This educational program is part of the educational offer of the Division of Health Sciences of Campus Leon of UG since March 2011, when the first generation of four students entered, and now, it has formed more than 15 specialists in the area in four generations.

Dr. Bertha Isabel Arévalo Rivas, coordinator of the Specialty mentioned in an interview that this postgraduate program, taught by the Medical Unit of High Specialty #1 of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), the student prepares for three years to address cardiological problems in patients in second or third level of attentions, also, they rotate to other health institutions, as well as the option to work with specialized doctors in other areas, which enriches their professional formation.

It is important to mention that some student have had stays in the Hospital Clinic of Barcelona, a teaching clinic related with the University of Barcelona and the Faculty of Medicine of the institution.

For the master degree in Physics, it has remained as Programs of International Competence, category of the highest level in the PNPC with which they achieve collaborations in the international area through agreements that include the mobility of students and professors, the co-direction of thesis and joint research projects.

Dr. Teodoro Córdova Fraga, Coordinator of the Master in Physics, mentioned that being certified in the PNPC as a Program of International Competence, allows the students to have stays in laboratories and universities in United States, Canada, Europe and Asia, "during their stay in the master degree, the students have the opportunity to be outside the country for at least six months, there are people who leave for a year,[...] mainly to the laboratories we don't have here, for example, Fermilab (Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory) or the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) which is in Switzerland shared with France", he mentioned.

The students of the Master in Physics work in the Laboratory of Elemental Particles of the Division of Sciences and Engineerin where they design and develop their own technology which has been recognized in a national and international level.
