Guanajuato, Gto., October 30, 2017.- Organized by students of the major in Environmental Engineering of UG's Campus Guanajuato, the 4th Environmental Fair was held at the facilities of the venue Belén at the Division of Engineering.
The objectives of this fair are, to raise awareness on environment care since basic education until postgraduates, because it is not only a responsibility of one area, but it is everyone's task to take care of the planet.
Likewise, they pretend to divulge science, so without greater protocols, from the early start, the fair began with the cycle of conferences, talks, workshops and activities. The first conference –about polymer recycling—was given by Dr. Lorena Eugenia Sánchez Cadena, Coordinator of the System of Environmental Handling of the Division of Engineering (DI).
Among the topics developed, there were topics on monitoring underground waters in the state of Guanajuato, resource management for urban solids, evaluation of the environmental impact in the gas duct "Los Ramones", the quality of the air in the underground street. There were also workshops on biofilters, paper recycling, better use of solid waste and about the sustainable development in natural protected areas in the state.
In an interview, Ruzaani Flores Mendoza, a student of the ninth semester and President of the Committee of the Sustainable Development of DI (Codesdi), explained that the committee emerged two years and a half ago and, since then, it has been a Social Service, although they have the goal to turn it in an independent committee.
Codesdi holds pro environmental activities, and the Fair has been done together with the area of sustainability of the division, however, now, the members look to make "recycle-thons", they want to develop divulge and awareness programs in environmental aspects, go beyond a social service.
With that on mind, they seek to also involve the other divisions of the University of Guanajuato, because taking care of the environment is not only for one or other area, but everyone's task.
In this edition, the committee was composed by twenty young students who performed actions from liaison to managing.
