León, Gto., November 14, 2017.- With the purpose to reflect on the academic competitiveness of the Medical Specialties in the University of Guanajuato (UG) and strengthen the collaboration with health institutions that hold them, there was a forum in which was analyzed and had feedback, though several actors, the value these educational programs have at UG.
Dr. Luis Ponce Ramírez was responsible to begin the activities with the master conference "PNPC Context", a special science, technology and innovation program that explained the objectives of the National Program of Quality Postgraduates (PNPC) which is part of the public policy to encourage the quality of the national postgraduate that the National Council of Science and technology (Conacyt) and the Department of Public Education have uninterruptedly encouraged since 1991.
He mentioned the need universities have to adapt to changes and world trends in which they need to cover new needs of the education with programs that address what is required by the different sectors of the population in matter of prevention, attention and promotion of health, in addition of developing in the students, the capability of entrepreneurship and innovation, at the same time that encourages the collaboration for the development of research projects that have an impact in a national and international level.
After the conference, there was a panel where Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, Rector of Campus León from UG, was the moderator. In this panel participated Dr. Daniel Alberto Díaz Martínez, Secretary of Health of the state of Guanajuato; and Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, Academic Secretary of UG.
Likewise, they had the presence of Dr. Éctor Jaime Ramírez Barba, local congressman of the District III of the City of León and former Secretary of Health of Guanajuato; Dr. Luis Ponce Ramírez, Director of Postgraduates at Conacyt; Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil, Director of Support for Research and Postgraduate at UG.
From the health institutions, was present: Cándido Pérez Verduzco, Delegate of the "Instituto de Seguridad y Servicios Sociales de los Trabajadores del Estado" (ISSSTE), and Dr. Juan Carlos Sánchez Serrano, Clinic Coordinator of Education and Research in Health of the General Hospital of Family Medicine 2 of the "Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS), representing the delegate M. Sergio Santibáñez.
In the panel, they shared points of view about the need to encourage new forms of organization of the postgraduate that favor the formation of the highly qualified human capital and the liaison between the academic sector, health institutions and the population.
In an interview with Dr. Bertha Arévalo Rivas, Coordinator of Medical Specialties of the Division of Health Sciences of Campus León, mentioned that all specialties offered in the campus answer to the social needs and fulfill the requirement to be relevant; also, she mentioned that UG offers 21 medical specialties, where eleven of them are part of the PNPC, which guarantees the educational quality, and highlighted the importance for the educational programs to remain with the certification in the different levels at PNPC to continue forming high level professionals.
