Guanajuato, Gto., November 13, 2017.- Dr. Claus Roxin, maximum figure of the contemporary Criminal Law, was invested with the Doctorate Honoris Causa, the maximum distinction granted by the University of Guanajuato (UG).
In a public and solemn session, the H. General University Council (CGU), recognized the career of the German jurist, whose thesis has been the foundation of resolutions at international courts in the sentences of dictators, "desk" delinquents, paramilitary leaders, and who has been responsible for the largest crimes against humanity.
"We are writing one the most glorious pages in our university, which adds to the academic stream of our university", assured UG's President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino and President of the General University Council.
The decision to grant the Honoris Causa to the famous German derives from the unanimous recognition to Dr. Roxin's contributions to criminal law science, to the penal systems in different countries, and, because of his contribution to mankind, explained Dr. Guerrero, who analyzed the greatest theoretical contributions of Dr. Roxin.

He has been distinguished with 27 doctorates Honoris Causa, and his work has been translated into five languages. This was revealed by Dr. Miguel Ontiveros Alonso, outstanding Mexican jury and disciple of Dr. Roxin, while he read the encomium.
Considered as the "master of juries, hammer of tyrants", the vast work of has been reigned by the principle that if a system doesn't address the problems of reality, it then must change, added Dr. Ontiveros Alonso.
In his intervention, the President of the Supreme Court of the State and a scholar at UG, Magistrate Miguel Valadez Reyes, mentioned the visionary perception of the celebrated, who has dedicated to the delinquent phenomenon, in such way that "his work has permeated the penal thinking of the occidental world", he affirmed.
The Rector of Campus Guanajuato, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, referred to the greatest contributions of Dr. Roxin, "among the juries, the most conspicuous and accredited internationally". From whom she said: "His greatest achievements is to transform the Criminal Law to solve, from a new paradigm, the problem of the organized crime: corruption, drug traffic and money laundering".
The state governor, Lic. Miguel Márquez Márquez, acknowledged the greatest contributions of the German author, at the same time the highlighted UG's social and academic commitment, that "feeds the spirit", and gives a great example to the students by giving homage to the Dr. Roxin's career.
"An unforgettable day"
"Today represents the highest point of my last years and I am very pleased to live and enjoy them", declared Dr. Roxin while expressing his gratitude for the distinction. Likewise, he mentioned that this recognition gave him the opportunity to return to Guanajuato and see his friends, in which will probably be "my last intercontinental trip", reason why he highlighted this as a day to remember.
Dr. Claus Roxin gave an unedited conference, titled "Complicity in the murder through service in the Auschwitz concentration camp", in which he referred to a decision made in 2016 by the German Supreme Court, which considers that a service contributed to the massive murder of more than 300,000 Jews in the camp, constitutes an accomplice to murder even when the respective member didn't intervene directly.
This a historical decision. "German justice has finally found the right words for the referred matter to the guilt in the small and indispensable collaborators of the atrocious massive murder", sustained the German scholar, who agreed to this decision, as well as with the German court that the members of the team in a concentration camp "are accomplices if they knew of the murders in Auschwitz and supported such operation, therefore, the extermination in scale of human lives."
The jurist disserted about the legal problems and the implications of this sentence, and reaffirmed his satisfaction for this posture of the German justice by concluding that "if our justice corrects errors from the past as much they can, it supports the existence of the victims of the Nazi and reinforces the trust in the State of Law".
