Guanajuato, Gto., November 21, 2017.- High school professors of the University of Guanajuato (UG) participated in the International Education Congress CLABES, held at the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina, presenting papers through talks and posters.
The objective was to gather professors, educational authorities and students of the Latin American countries, concerned by the aspects related with the quality of teaching and abandonment of studies.
Integration, permanence and graduation of the higher education students still is a challenge for the universities and Latin American institutions, that must solve the problem of abandonment of studies consequently that obeys a complexity of social, individual and institutional factors which are intimately related.
The professors from HS Centro Histórico León who participated with a talk and poster were Emigdio Frausto Macías, Luis David Valadez Ponce, Verónica Aguilar Vargas, Ma. Eugenia Ibarra Rodríguez, Karen Viridiana Piña Arellano and Juan Francisco Cisneros Macías.
The topics in which they participated were: "Pedagogic intervention, a resource to contribute to the student's retention, in high school" and "Individual attention and values in higher education as strengths against school abandonment."
Likewise, the professors at HS Silao, Manuel Eduardo Granados Mata, José Luis Isidro Trejo Rocha, Maricruz Ríos Olmos, Fernando Caudillo Ortega, José Herón Escobedo Moreno, Víctor Hernández Briseño, José Luis Zúñiga Orozco, Sergio Jesús Ortega Méreles & Juan Manuel Sánchez Ibarra presented their work in the topics "Use of a widget for academic tutoring", "implementation of joint strategies with the Department to defeat desertion in high school" and "ABP Learning strategy as an alternate solution to problems in the classroom to reduce school abandonment."
The participant professors commented that this type con congresses are important because it allows them to know what is being made in Latin American in education, listen and value experiences inside and outside the classroom, and so, share teaching-learning experiences for the benefit of the students, academic staff and high schools of the University of Guanajuato.
