Salamanca, Gto., November 17, 2017.- Students of the Division of Engineering of the University of Guanajuato (UG), participated in the University Contest of Innovative Wit in Energy, with proposals to generate and use clean energies for the environment.

The contest was organized by the Mexican Center of Renewable Energies S.C. (CEMER) in coordination with the Secretary of Innovation, Science and Higher Education of the State of Guanajuato (SICES), with the System of Techno Parks of Innovation in the state of Guanajuato (NOVAERA AC) and the Division of Engineering of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca.

With the project "Generation of electric energy by corporal heat to replace conventional batteries", the students Eric Osvaldo Méndez Goerne and Magnolia Angelina Montecillo obtained the first place, and, with it, an $8,000 pesos award given by SICES.

The second place was for the project "In Step Generation" of Andrea Carolina Carrizales Tapia, Jesús Razo Olmos, José Francisco Arreguín González and Atenea León Espuna, with the advisory of professor Fernando Ireta Moreno, who proposed a mechanism to produce energy while walking, this consists in a device that generates induction and contributes sufficient voltage to feed a power bank for cell phones.

The contest had the participation of 66 students and 16 projects, they jury were guests from the Innovation Park of the "Universidad De La Salle Bajío", of CEMER, and HS Salamanca.

The other participant projects were: "The use of agro-industrial waste biomass to generate energy", "Thermo-charger", "Plant-lamp", "Emergency electric generator based on fuel cells", "Hindi bio-digester", "Solar energy and kinetic system", "Energon", "Sun", "Impact of the low rotational inertia in power sources", "Illumination remote controller", "SolarApp", "Wind energy generation in buildings" and "Intelligent negotiation."

The contest award was presided by, the Rector of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, Dr. Armando Gallegos Muñoz, accompanied by Dr. Jesús Martínez Patiño, CEMER's Director, the boards of the Division of campus and members of the jury.
