alumno-de-la-maestria-produccion-pecuaria-gana-en-yucatanconcurso-de-conocimientos-ug-ugtoIrapuato, Gto., November 30, 2017.- Luis Flores García, a student of the Interinstitutional Master degree in Livestock Production of the University of Guanajuato (UG), won the first place of the knowledge contest of the XXVIII National Contests of Biologic Control. The largest national scientific event of biologic control of plagues, held in Mérida, Yucatán.

With the support from the Direction of Support for Research and Postgraduate (DAIP), two students of the Division of Life Sciences went to the course, which is organized by the Mexican Society of Biologic Control, and at the end, the attendants applied a knowledge exam about the topics addressed.

"Having won this prize in the postgraduate category, is a reflection that I learned the topics about predatory insects, parasitoid insects, fungus, virus, as well as the expectations in the biological control in Mexico and the world", mentioned Luis Flores.

The outstanding student is from Celaya, he studied the degree in Veterinary and Zootechny in the venue Irapuato of UG, and since 2016, he studies the postgraduate in Livestock Production in the same venue.

He explained that in the contest, in that category, around 40 students from different institutions participated, and there was a tie in the first place, since there were two students from other states and him, who registered the same number of right answers, granting them the first place.

The National Congress of Biologic Control has the objective to train producers and technicians in the use of organisms of biological control of plagues and diseases; as well as showing the national and international innovations achieved in the different areas.

The Mexican Society of Biologic Control is a non-profit civil association that was created in 1989. Since 1991, such reunion became the National Congress of Biologic Control.

The objective of this civil association is to promote the interaction of the several sectors, so they contribute to improve the knowledge of biological control through research, teaching, application and legislation, as well as to ease the exchange of information and experiences between specialties.
