Guanajuato, Gto., November 28, 2017.- On next December, the summon to enroll in the Interinstitutional Doctorate of Architecture Program (PIDA) will be launched. The latter has the certification of International Competence and Excellence by the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt).

That is what Dr. Brigitte Lamy Archambault, coordinator of the Doctorate in Architecture of the Division of Architecture, Art and Design (DAAD) of Campus Guanajuato, but also, from last September 11, she is the Technical Secretary of PIDA, it means, coordinates all the academic efforts of the four venues of the Program that is taught in the Universities of Colima, Michoacana de San Nicolás de Hidalgo; Autónoma de Aguascalientes and the University of Guanajuato (UG).

In an interview, Dr. Lamy explained that keeping PIDA's Technical Secretary in Guanajuato, to publish the summon, it must be submitted to the Academic Council of the Same program, to have green light and then, to the Committee of Interinstitutional Postgraduates of the Western Central Region, presided by Dr. Mauro Napsuciale Mendivil.

She revealed that they seek to make some changes in the summon so the procedures can be made online and the applicants don't have to travel to Guanajuato to deliver their file, even the tests and propaedeutic.

So, from the moment the applicant registers on the site, they will have steps and requirements to follow, and the goal, is to receive a new generation in August 2018; a long process, she acknowledges, for the same features of the program, which is a doctorate of international competence, so, they'll seek to make time for the applicants know about it, not only in the state, but in the country, but the continent and even the in world.

In that sense, it is important to mention that currently, there are PIDA students in Mexico, Colombia, Argentina and Dominican Republic. Hence, with the new summon, they expect to receive many and good applicants, because it is a program of excellence, and being a doctorate, it is also the maximum grade of study that is granted in an institution.

With these dates, they expect to publish the results in June 2018, so the students who are accepted have time to settle and being their work in each university that will be assigned; it may be coordinated in Guanajuato, but there are four PIDA HQs and depending their line of research, they can be channeled to Colima, Morelia, Aguascalientes or Guanajuato.

Excellence profiles

Being PIDA a doctorate of architecture, it is expected that most of the applicants have the same formation, however, they're open for related disciplines, among them, sociologists and geographers.

The graduate receives a title of doctor in architecture and will be able to enter the academic life, make research or some other functions such as high-level frames in the government or private companies.

PIDA is tutorial, there's a program, a network of subjects that except the themed semiannual seminars which are in situ, the rest of the work is done in coordination with the thesis director.

At this point, explained Dr. Lamy, we are waiting the approval of a new program, which will give the possibility to teach the doctorate up to eight semesters, but right now it has a six-semester program.

She also remarked that the Ph.D. degree is given by each university, it means, the same program depending on where each student goes, they must oblige to the rules of each institution.

What is PIDA?

The Interinstitutional Doctorate in Architecture Program (PIDA) is a postgraduate that has been taught for 15 years and has the certification from the National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) as an International Competence program.

As tutoring, it is taught in Colima, Aguascalientes, Morelia and Guanajuato, and each semester, in situ, research seminars are held in several areas, last June was Guanajuato and it will have a place again in 2019.
