expertos-debaten-sobre-derecho-ambiental-y-cambio-climatico-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., December 4, 2017.- With the presence of researchers, professors, students and authorities of the university community, at the University of Guanajuato (UG), was held the first edition of the National Congress of Environmental Law and Climate Change.

The event was co-organized by the Program of Environmental Handling and Sustainability and the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG), in an exercise of collaboration in their contents, which included panels and master conferences towards four main topics: Environmental Law and Governance (the roads of environmental responsibility), Energetic Law, Collective and Diffuse Rights, and the Actual State of the International Climate Summits.

M. Dante Acal Sánchez, responsible for the Program of Environmental Handling and Sustainability of the University of Guanajuato (UG), highlighted that, while developing the congress, they saw the need to make an interinstitutional collaboration between researchers and scholars of the community, to share professional contents about sustainability.

He mentioned that one of the objectives of the program of environmental handling and sustainability of the University of Guanajuato, is to improve the performance of own university in the regulation, as well as improving their energetic resources and green areas; always considering the support and participation of professors of the student community.

"Also, we have been working with the Institute of Ecology for the State of Guanajuato in a project called School Republic, where the students have created and developed specific environmental projects", he delved.

We have an institutional commitment with the Environmental Office of Territory Ordnance of the state of Guanajuato (PAOT), where one of the functions is to certify public and private institutions towards their environmental performance, with that agreement, seven venues have been recognized for the environmental practices.

Also, he recognized that there was an excellent support from DDPG to make a second edition of this encounter.

At the event participated: The President of the "Corte Internacional de Arbitraje y Conciliación Ambienta", the center of "Estudios Constitucionales de la Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación", the center of "Comisión Nacional para el Uso de Energía de la Secretaría de Energía (Conuee)", the "Instituto de Ecología del Estado de Guanajuato (IEEG)", the association Iniciativa Climática de México" (CLIMA), and the "Academia Mexicana de Derecho Ambiental (AMDA)."

517 participants attended the congress, among them, researchers, professors, student community and members of the civil society; from public and private universities of the state; also, they had the presence of 31 cities of the state of Guanajuato and 6 states of the republic.
