León, Gto., December 13, 2017.- The Medical Surgeon degree of the University of Guanajuato (UG), once again, placed in the top three universities in the country, according the results from the XLI National Exam for Applicants to Medical Residencies (ENARM) 2017.
182 UG students participated in the evaluation, 59 of them were selected to enter the National System of Medical Residencies of the Department of Health.
On the matter, the Coordinator of the degree in Medical Surgeon of the Division of Health Sciences of Campus León, Dr. Elia Lara Lona explained that each year, they make a position exam for the Med School graduates –public and private— of the country, who aspire to make a specialty.
Historically, UG's Med Program has always positioned in the first places, and no win 2017, the University of Guanajuato placed third in the nation, which means, the graduates have a high academic level.
"The Medical Specialties in Mexico are highly recognized internationally, but it is also an area of expertise that each one of the doctors develops, it can even be considered a postgraduate; it is a specialty that can take them from 3 to 12 years and where they begin to consolidate, either in the clinical area or in research", highlighted Dr. Elia Lara.
She added that there are specialties that accept less students than others but, practically each one has a representative of the University of Guanajuato. "Our students seek the best places to make their specialty and UG is always well received", remarked the coordinator of the degree in medical surgeon.
The ENARM is applied in different venues, --among them, Guanajuato—, and it practically is a three-day exam. "Last year and this one we are in third place, after the Universidad Panamericana and the Universidad Autónoma de San Luis Potosí.
"These results are the reflection of an accredited program for years now, and a great effort of the graduates of this degree", emphasized Dr. Lara.
