Guanajuato, Gto., Janaury 12, 2018.- From the 17th to 19th this month, at the facilities of the University of Guanajuato (UG); the Third Seminar Workshop "En torno al agua. El agua: recurso o mercancía" will take place. The seminar is organized by professors of the Division of Social Sciences and Humanities (DCSH) of Campus Guanajuato and with the participation of other divisions and researchers from the University of Bordeaux, France.

In an interview, Dr. José Luis Lara Valdés highlighted that in the new academic and administrative scheme for UG, they hat propitiated interdisciplinarity and transversality of professors and researchers; in that way, they have been able to gather engineers, lawyers, architects, philosophers, and historians to reflect about a topic of interest for all: water.

Because of this circumstance, he said, colleagues from different entities dedicated to managing and rule water, and the administration of informatic resources to control surface waters in France, they have gathered twice, once in our country and another in Bordeaux Métropole.

In these encounters, they exchanged points of view, reflections about seeing water as a natural resource in need to be managed or in what Europe is called water governance, or we will continue to see it as a merchandise, which is what has been going on in our countries, today we fight for water to stop being a merchandise, he said.

Dr. Lara sustained that thanks to these groups of scholars of water on different campuses of UG, have generated these reflections and publications for some years now, and these trajectories have resulted in academic programs such as the Postgraduate in Water at the Division of Engineering (DI) and the new bachelor's degree in Geography taught also at the same division.

Likewise, the Division of Architecture, Art and Design (DAAD) does the same with the Master degree in Restoration of Heritage Architectonic Sites, in which they have made emphasis in studying the technology of water in the past.

They have even established the concept of "Architecture of Water" for this master degree, mentioned Dr. Lara, so, the graduates from the master in restoration and urban planning are looking to participate in giving more value to the studies about water.

Now, in this third seminar workshop, they will present a publication of Dr. Yann René Ramos Arroyo about problems of water in the metropolitan zone of León, also, they will present the progress for future publications.

The conferences will be held in several rooms and spaces at DCSH, Mesón de San Antonio and the Museo Dieguino in this city, since the City Hall of Guanajuato supports the event with its water entity (SIMAPAG).

Finally, Dr. Lara revealed that with this third edition, they expect to make progress in concluding agreements with the University of Bordeaux in France, exclusively in the subject of water, since UG has an agreement with the French institution, but for the students or urbanism and architecture.
