Guanajuato, Gto., January 15, 2018.- After winning a complex bidding, the Seminar of Evaluations in Public Policies began in the University of Guanajuato (UG) which, for nine months, will be taught in the Division of Economic Administrative Sciences (DCEA) to one hundred people from 35 dependencies of the state government.

This course has the purpose to provide tools to the public administrators to evaluate if the government actions are fulfilling or not the proposed objectives that justify the existence of the programs and governmental projects.

In his message at the beginning of the course, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera, Rector of Campus Guanajuato of UG, congratulated DCEA and the team who encouraged the project, led by Dr. Martha Guevara and Dr. Ariadna Crisantema Martínez, for winning a bidding "that had an enormous complexity, given the quantity and quality of the participants."

In that tone, she recognized the state government and the Institute of Planning, Statistics and Geography of the State of Guanajuato, for trusting UG.

In the ambience of public policies, there is a vat field of research and opportunity for the academy and not only the government, to take a relevant role within the concrete actions to search solutions to different problems and challenges that current governments face.

Dr. Rendón emphasized that only through evaluation is how better solutions to the demands of society can be given, if it doesn't transcend to any person each government action, then there is no point.

Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López, DCEA's Director, welcome the government functionaries who will form as experts in evaluating public policies, and will answer the need and importance it has, of wellbeing mechanisms when we talk about public policies.

In the next nine months of the course, she said, methodologies, impacts, reconsiderations and recommendations will be taught for the maximum fulfillment of the objectives of the government projects, which also means that the government is concerned and wants to improve.

Finally, J. Guadalupe Enrique Ayala Negrete, General Director of the Institute of Planning, Statistics and Geography of the State of Guanajuato, reminded that this entity is pioneer in the design of public policies, and was one of the first states to create, since 1991, the idea to generate a development plant in the long term and from there to comprehensive planning, which has moving little by little.

Public administration needs to reinforce the technical part to have results, independently of who leads office, affirmed Ayala; therefore, we saw the need for a system of evaluation to verify what is done has a real impact in the development of people.

He assured that they have improved greatly in the sense that money is used what it was intended for, but we still need to see if the invested money really transforms the life of the citizen, which is the most important, and for that, the evaluation and create specialists are needed in this subject, so, he congratulated the beginning of the course and said to be proud that this university had won the contests to teach the course.
