Yuriria, Gto., January 16, 2018.- With research in the opto-digital field, which might influence in the design of new high-resolution optic systems for robotic vision applications, as well as to detect mechanical failures in electric motors, Luis Manuel Ledesma Carrillo, obtained the Ph.D. degree in Electric Engineering by the University of Guanajuato (UG).
With the thesis "Filtraje opto-digital para extender la profundidad de campo en imágenes" made in the research spaces at the venue Yuriria of the University of Guanajuato, the student of the Division of Engineering worked under the direction of two national researchers, Dr. Jorge Ojeda Castañeda and Dr. Eduardo Cabal Yépez.
Luis Manuel is from Salvatierra and studied the bachelor's and master's in Electric Engineering at the Division of Engineering at UG, venue Salamanca, where he received support to continue studying with the doctorate, with the advice from Dr. Jorge Ojeda in optics and Dr. Eduardo Cabal in the digital topic.
The thesis has a special focus on opto-digital filter using phase-spaces, where time and frequency can co-exist; this is one way that in engineering and mathematics was formerly known and used, as the musical pentagram, only now in terms of electrical signals, explained Dr. Ojeda.
Dr. Eduardo Cabal explained that with an optical arrangement and a digital processing, it is possible to take a high-resolution image beyond the focal plain with the purpose to extract information and make decision to make a specific task; therefore, it is desirable for the captured images to have good quality and the digital processing applied to each one, has high speed.
"It is a pride and a motivation to pave the road for my peers, tell them that it is possible to reach these instances with high impact applications", mentioned Manuel Ledesma, who presented his reception exam at the Department of Multidisciplinary Studies of Campus Irapuato-Salamanca, found on the city of Yuriria, where UG established 7 years ago to bring quality study programs for the population at the south of the state.
