Guanajuato, Gto., February 13, 2018.- With the purpose to tighten bonds in the cultural ambiance with Arizona (US), authorities of the University of Guanajuato (UG) led by its President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, gathered with representatives from Arizona. At the meeting, they proposed to have a cultural festival that would contribute to extend the bonds that already exist in the academic area.

The Arizona committee was formed by the Major of Mesa, Arizona, John Giles; members of Trade Chamber and business men from the city; they were welcomed by Dr. Guerrero Agripino and UG's Director of International Relationships and Academic Collaboration, Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz.

While welcoming the visitors, UG's President highlighted the collaboration between this institution and the University of Arizona, which has made possible to have joint research in health and technology –specifically in water treatment—, as well as student mobility through programs such as "La Fuerza de los 100,000 en America".

Besides, the collaboration agreements have allowed professors of the School District of Maricopa County to make stays at UG to promote cultural understanding; teach courses and workshops to college and high school professors in topics related to educational innovation and teaching methodologies; among others.

Dr. Guerrero remarked that the institution has the conviction that art and culture are powerful instruments to bring nations together and agreed with Major Giles in the interest to develop a cultural program in Arizona where UG participates.

The event is proposed to be held in October and the planning at UG would be under the responsibility of Dr. Sergio Antonio Silva Muñoz.

During the meeting, the major of Mesa thanked the hospitality of the University of Guanajuato and mentioned that in this visit to Guanajuato, they found several topics they can work together, in the academic, commercial and cultural ambience.
