Guanajuato, Gto., February 19, 2018.- The University of Guanajuato through the Division of Architecture, Art and Design maintains a close collaboration with the National School of Architecture and Landscape of Bordeaux, France, institution with which has carried out various workshops in different Localities of the entity.

This time, the ceremony was held to welcome and inaugurate the workshop between the French school and the Department of Architecture of the University of Guanajuato, who will work together to make a conceptual diagnosis and a proposal for the rehabilitation of the Guanajuato River.

At the event, the rector of the Guanajuato Campus, Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendón Huerta Barrera formally inaugurated the activities and recognized the efforts of both students and teaching staff of both higher education institutions. She emphasized that it is a fundamental to rescue the emblematic river for the city of Guanajuato, as it constitutes "a multidisciplinary project of social benefit, an avant-garde project for the National School of Architecture and Landscape of Bordeaux and the University of Guanajuato. "

For his part, the Director of International Relations and Academic Coordination, Dr. Sergio Silva Muñoz, mentioned that this workshop demonstrates the importance of the collaboration of universities with projects in favor of society, developing alternatives for to improve the way of planning the urban landscape.

During his speech, UG's Director of the Division of Architecture, Art and Design, Dr. Francisco Javier González Compean, said that this workshop is a clear proof of the constant and positive synergy between the Mexican institution and the French school. In addition, he said that the workshop will support the improvement of living conditions in Guanajuato by improving the river.

Likewise, the Director of the National School of Architecture and Landscape of Bordeaux, Dr. Carlos Gotlieb congratulated the Union of the two educational institutions that have previously collaborated in annual workshops in which they have developed projects in the city of León in the neighborhood of San Juan de Dios and the Sanctuary district and this time in the city of Guanajuato.

It should be mentioned that one of the main purposes of the workshops is to carry out a collaborative methodology, to raise awareness of space, local identity, everyday activities and, from that point on, to identify the needs of space to generate a diagnosis and, in this case, a rescue proposal for the Guanajuato River.
