Ciudad de México February 19, 2018.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) will have a large participation in the International Fair of Reading Yucatán (FILEY), which will be held from March 10 to 18, since it is the guest of honor.

The guest country for this party is Russia, place who have birth to emblematic writers who have left a deep footprint in humankind through their work, so the press conference was held at the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Mexico.

At the press conference, Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo, Academic Secretary of the University of Guanajuato (UG), mentioned that the educational institution is ready to participate in this magnificent event that encourages and diffuses one of the most enriching activities for the human being: reading.

Dr. Raúl Arias Lovillo reiterated the gratitude and honor to the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán and the FILEY for the invitation and stressed that the University of Guanajuato will participate with 63 activities that will show the academic, artistic and cultural strength of the educational institution.

He indicated that the UG prepared a special programme which will have the participation of its artistic groups such as the Folkloric Ballet and the Estudiantina, as well as dance and theater groups from the degree in Scenic Arts with transcendental topics such as rejection of violence.

In addition, they will have several talks and editorial presentations that will make visible the quality of the editorial production of the University of Guanajuato. There will be homages for outstanding writers from Guanajuato such as: Efraín Huerta, Jorge Ibargüengoitia and Margarita Villaseñor. As well as the poet David Huerta, who will receive the Excellence Award in Letters "José Emilio Pacheco".

The University of Guanajuato will also have movie cycles such as "De paseo por Cuévano" in which they will project feature films based in the novels of Ibargüengoitia, and they will also have dramatized readings of their literary work. Likewise, regarding the seventh art, there will be a horror short film festival "Aurora". Dr. Arias Lovillo finalized by being thankful and celebrating this reading event which is about to begin.

The director of the FILEY, C.P. Rodolfo Cobos Argüelles spoke about relevant aspects of the seventh edition of the Fair as the special dedication that will give the scientific dissemination with a space called "The Garden of Science", visual art exhibitions, the reading of poems, narrative in Maya, as well as the tables on the translation of that language. He also mentioned the writers who will be present at the fair like: César Aira, Amelia Andrade and Laura Esquivel, there will also be presentations of authors like Joselo Rangel, musician from Café Tacvba, Xavier Velasco, Élmer Mendoza, Antonio Malpica, Fabrizio Mejía Madrid, Alberto Chimal, Imanol Caneyada, Verónica Murguía, Martha Riva Palacios Obón, to name a few.

For its part, the Excellency Ambassador of the Russian Federation to Mexico, Eduard R. Malayán, said it is a great honor to be part of this event and to join forces with Guanajuato, a state rich in culture. He underlined the importance of building and strengthening bridges between nations and that this time they will participate with artistic groups, lectures, and samples of the Russian cultural heritage.

The representative of the Government of Guanajuato, director of tourism products, LCS. Rogelio Martínez Caballero, expressed his emotion of getting involved in the FILEY, where besides the love of reading, will be made a gastronomic sample of the Chichimeca, Purépecha and Otomi richness.

Finally, the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Yucatán, Dr. José de Jesús Williams, emphasized the historical tradition of cultural promotion from educational institutions, and said that the FILEY represents an opportunity to share the passion for culture, books and art. In addition to making alliances with the University of Guanajuato and the Russian Federation.

The FILEY will have as enclosures the Convention and Exhibition Center Yucatan Siglo XXI and the Great Museum of the Mayan World.
