Guanajuato, Gto., February 22. 2018.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) through the Division of Economic-Administrative Sciences (DCEA) announced on a press conference a new educational program: the master's degree in Economics and Finance.

The master's will be offered to begin the period Aug-Dec 2018, as informed by the Director of DCEA, Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López.

She highlighted that this postgraduate program is unique in its kind as it engulfs two relevant disciplines, economy and finance. She indicated that it raises from the need to generate specialists capable of making diagnosis and strategies to make short-, mid-, and long-term decision about the exchange of capital and goods consumption.

Similarly, he said that aspirants can be from different areas such as mathematics, public administration, some engineering, among others.

For his part, the Director of the Department of Economics and Finance, Dr. Alejandro Mosiño Jasso stressed that the design of the educational program required a great effort since one of its priorities is to impact in the region with the formation of students with a solid knowledge in economics and finance so that they can perform in a wide field of work.

In this regard he indicated that graduates of the master's will be able to occupy positions of responsibility in the government or in private companies, or if they desire, continue advanced studies and to carry out avant-garde investigations. In addition, they will be able to devote themselves to teaching, consultancy, financial services in banks, among other activities.

Finally, Dr. J. Refugio Vallejo Gutiérrez, coordinator of the master's in economics and finance, talked about the syllabus that will include mathematics, statistics, data analysis and above all focus on solving real-life needs. The syllabus will be supported by 19 specialist professors in these areas of knowledge.

The schedule for the master's will on Friday's afternoon and Saturday mornings, some of the enrollment requirements are the bachelor's degree and English level of 420 points on the TOEFL test.
