The University occupies the fifth place in invention entries, according IMPI
León, Gto., February 21, 2018.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) joined the commemoration for the day of the Mexican Inventor, with an event in which highlighted the contributions that men and women have made to the scientific and technological development of the country.
In the ceremony that took place at the Forum venue of Campus León, the head of the Bajío Regional Office of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI), Lic. Alejandro Raúl Salas Domínguez, announced that Guanajuato is the third national place of entry for Applications for inventions, which puts it at the forefront in technological development and invention.
In this sense, he recognized the role of the University of Guanajuato, which in the last year was ranked fifth at the national level by the number of applications for inventions, by entering 22.
In the inaugural declaration, the Director of Liaison of the UG, Dr. Salvador Hernández Castro, who came on behalf of the UG's President, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, highlighted the role that educational institutions are doing-supported by the IMPI, in the technology transfer part.
While the Academic Secretary of Campus León, Dr. Lorena del Carmen Álvarez Castañón, representative of the Rector of Campus León, Dr. Carlos Hidalgo Valadez, expressed her confidence that through science, technology and innovation are achieved Positive transformations in the country.
During the event, five patent titles and three industrial design records were delivered. Of these, three were for members of the university community, which reveals the institutional commitment to the generation of new developments, emphasized Dr. Álvarez Castañón.
After the Protocol Act, the Panel "Soy inventora mexicana" took place, in which researchers from the UG and the Instituto Tecnológico de Roque, as well as an independent businesswoman, participated.
Besides, the M. Diana Genoveva Ortega Arrioja, General director of ACTITUD technological innovation, gave the keynote lecture: "Valuation and commercialization of intangible assets".
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Fabiola León Galván, professor of the UG and inventor; The director of institutions for the training of professionals of the Higher Education of the Department of Innovation, Science and Higher Education (SICES), Lic. Flor Janett Hernández Vargas; and Lic. Litzia Vega Jáuregui, executive of the National Institute of the Entrepreneur (INADEM) of the Federal delegation of the Department of Economy of Guanajuato, among other representatives of the academic and industrial sector.
