Guanajuato, Gto., February 25, 2018.- The oral litigation team of the University of Guanajuato won first place in the fourth national contest of Oral Trial and Preliminary Hearing Mexico 2017-2018.

The competition took place in the city of Guadalajara, where the students traveled to represent the University of Guanajuato and obtain the first place in three different categories: better questioning as a prosecutor, better cross-examination as Prosecutor's office and best opening plea for prosecution.

The fourth national competition for Oral trial and preliminary hearings – organized by the California Western School of Law – was addressed to law students in Mexico. The event was attended by the Autonomous University of Tamaulipas, the University of Veracruz, the Universidad Panamericana de Guadalajara, the Autonomous University of San Luis Potosí, the University of Hidalgo.

The aim of this contest is to increase the number of lawyers qualified in the new criminal procedure and to improve their knowledge in constitutional law, criminal law, criminal procedural law, litigation skills, as well as the effective application of these Issues in the courts.

The adviser of the Oral litigation team of the UG, Juan Carlos Páramo stressed that thanks to the support provided by the University of Guanajuato is that the team is becoming more and more strengthened, since previously they have won competences at national level and international. On this occasion of the main team, two other denominated "Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino" and "Armando Olivares Carrillo" were awarded.

In addition, he said that by winning this contest they qualify to participate in the national competition of Oral litigation to be held in Tijuana in May, and which will see the 16 best teams from across the country.

In the same way, he mentioned that during the fourth national contest of oral trial and preliminary hearing Mexico that took place from February 22 to 25, the students of the University of Guanajuato also obtained the victory in the simulation of audiences of mediation, in the initial hearings and in the hearings of oral judgement.

Finally, the advisor of the Oral Litigation team at the University of Guanajuato reported that the team is constantly renewed so that in 4 years has gone through this at least 30 students and all of them have stood out for their talent, effort and dedication, since they have a high commitment to the University of Guanajuato that they always define as a prestigious institution.

It is noteworthy that this event was organized with the aim of promoting the best practices of the oral litigation techniques of the new criminal prosecution system Adversarial among the students of the law degree in Mexico.
