Guanajuato, Gto., February 23, 2018.- As part of the activities carried out by students of the Lycée Sainte Marguerite de Chambray Les Tours during their stay at the University of Guanajuato (UG), they held a meeting with members of the city Council of the state capital, who endorsed the bonds of brotherhood that exist with France.
The visitors were accompanied by the President of the UG, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, who mentioned that in the city of Guanajuato are the roots of the university, hence the meaning of meeting with the city's authorities.
The Mayor of Guanajuato, Lic. Édgar Castro Cerrillo, emphasized that France is the third scientific partner of Mexico and the state capital has always maintained an excellent relationship with the European country, whose influence is appreciated even in the city's architecture.
He also recalled that in the last edition of the International Festival Cervantino (FIC), France was the guest country, and added that this visit of students from the Lycée of Sainte Marguerite de Chambray constitutes an opportunity to endorse the ties of friendship with that country, so he recognized the great work UG does in terms of mobility.
Previously, the Director of the High School College (CNMS), Dr. J. Merced Rizo Carmona, recalled that the visit of the students of the French college is given in the framework of an agreement between the UG and the Lycée of Sainte Marguerite de Chambray Les Tours, dating back to the year 2016.
Thanks to this, eleven students and two professors from the CNMS de la UG had the opportunity to make a cultural academic stay at the French institution, who were greeted by the families of the students who now visit Guanajuato.
On behalf of the French delegation, Professor Marge Dallier argued that this project favors students and teachers and is very enriching at the linguistic, cultural, and academic levels, as it implies the realization of a work in the field of environment and sustainable development.
Therefore, she thanked the hospitality of UG and the city, and said that they are ready to receive another group of CNMS students who will visit France next October.
In this meeting, in addition to students and professors from the Lycée Sainte Marguerite de Chambray, students from different UG high schools attended. The CNMS Academic Secretary, Dr. Jesús Raúl Lugo Martínez and from the city of Guanajuato, the Secretary of the City Council, Dr. Carlos Torres Ramírez, and the Councilor M. Ana Gabriela Cárdenas Vázquez.
