León, Gto., February 23, 2018.- To improve skills, strengthen knowledge and arouse the interest of students on social and political issues of the country, a workshop was held at San Carlos venue as part of a joint project between Campus León of the University of Guanajuato (UG) and the British Council Institute.
The workshop entitled "The role of narratives in public policy" was attended by 80 students from the three divisions of UG's Campus León to analyze different political messages and contents that are disseminated in the country with topics such as migration, employment and security. In this way, the workshop participants were able to reflect, discern and share perspectives on migration and how the United States government treats the issue and promotes immigration reform.
Alicia Sarahí Plascencia Castro, a student of the degree in Sustainable Chemical Engineering of UG commented in an interview the importance of sharing views, knowing the concepts that have of migration and analyzing the context to understand all the Narrative of the messages, "it helped us to see all that is behind the public policies and as citizens to open our eyes and see beyond what they are telling us", she said.
On the other hand, Lic. Laura Lozano Fuentes, Liaison Coordinator of Campus León said that this project between the two institutions will allow students to participate in the summon "Future Leaders Connect" in which students will be selected to make a stay in the United Kingdom, where they will receive a workshop at the University of Cambridge and a training in London where they will also be able to meet parliamentarians, "they were invited to join an initiative to promote emerging leaders. They are asked to be students between 18 and 35 years old to make proposals with the objective of improving on some question of life in which the results can be seen in a period of less than five years," she said..
This initiative seeks young leaders in public policy, so students from different countries are invited to strengthen their skills through leadership development programs, socialization meetings, and address urgent issues at the global level.
