Guanajuato, Gto., March 1, 2018.- The students from the High School College (CNMS) of the University of Guanajuato (UG) Esteban Veloz Muñoz, Eduardo López Lozano y Eduardo Alejandro Guzmán Cuevas, all from the HS Centro Histórico León, obtained silver medals and a bronze medal for Ángel Tadeo Rodríguez Mares from HS León in the XXVII National Chemistry Olympiad, organized by the Mexican Academy of Sciences (AMC).
It should be noted that Esteban Veloz Muñoz was among the best fifteen students, thus becoming a national preselected so he will take a test to classify the International Olympics in the Czech Republic or the Latin American Olympiad Chemistry, in El Salvador, with the opportunity to represent the country in July.
Of the 188 high school students from all over the country, the Guanajuato delegation moved to the first phase and later to the final, which consisted of exams (theoretical, practical and international) that include four areas: analytical chemistry, Inorganic chemistry, physico-chemical and organic chemistry.
The Guanajuato delegation was headed by M. Víctor Manuel Mejía Cobos, and Dr. Jesús Raúl Lugo Martínez, delegates of the state Olympiad of Chemistry, as well as of M. Miguel Ángel Ruiz Torres de la ENMS Centro Histórico León.
It should be mentioned that the delegation of Guanajuato every year has succeeded in obtaining medals. In the last edition four were obtained. To reach the recent achievement, the award-winning students have been trained since November through the delegates and professors of the Division of Natural and Exact sciences of the Guanajuato campus.
