ug-da-bienvenida-a-estudiantes-de-doctorado-en-derecho-interinstitucional-en-derechos-humanos-ug-ugtoGuanajuato, Gto., February 28. 2018.- The University of Guanajuato (UG) welcomed 22 students who will attend the inter-institutional doctorate in human Rights, a program created through a collaboration agreement with the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur, the Universidad Autónoma de Campeche, the Universidad Autónoma de Tlaxcala, and the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH).

This program has as lines of research democracy and human rights; Justice and human rights systems; Economic, social, cultural and environmental rights; As well as serious human rights violations, which are addressed from a multidisciplinary perspective.

A doctorate program is not only to assimilate knowledge, it allows to delimit objects of study to generate new knowledge and to establish theoretical frameworks of relief for its application to the attention of transcendent problems-in this case-, for the humanity, The Rector General of the University of Guanajuato, Dr. Luis Felipe Guerrero Agripino, said.

He recalled that the UG already offers other inter-institutional programs, but this has the characteristic that it incorporates the CNDH, so that the responsibility increases, because we must be accountable to the country's society with this doctorate in human rights, he added.

He also reiterated his gratitude to the sister institutions involved in the project, which gave continuity to a collaboration that began with the inter-institutional master's in human rights.

Those who are now students of the program, were reminded that they have all the institutional support to develop a successful doctorate and urged that their theses constitute a significant contribution in the field of human rights.

Dr. Teresita de Jesús Rendon Huerta Barrera, rector of Campus Guanajuato, referred to the growing importance that the national and international community has acquired in the promotion and protection of human rights, which obliges not only to study them but to generate new knowledge.

Therefore, she said that this programme will enable the participating institutions to move forward in the study and deepening of the subject, for its advocacy, promotion and enlargement.

In his speech, the Director of the division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG), Dr. Eduardo Pérez Alonso, highlighted the sum of academic and institutional efforts that made this project possible and wished the participants success.

The welcome ceremony was attended by Dr. José Alfredo Muñoz Delgado, General Secretary of the National Commission of Human Rights of the State of Aguascalientes; Dr. Rubén Díaz López, Commissioner of the Institute of Transparency of the state of Aguascalientes, and Dr. Rafael de Luna de la Peña, private secretary of the Rector of the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur.

In addition, the Director of the Department of Law at UG, Dr. Leandro Eduardo Astrain Bañuelos; the Academic Secretary of the DDPG, Dr. Ricardo Rodríguez Luna, as representative of the teaching faculty of the program, special guests, representatives of the institutions participating in the doctorate, as well as members of the university community.
