libro-ugGuanajuato, Gto., March 14, 2018.- Within the Commemoration of the International Women's Day, several activities were held in the magnus spaces of Campus Guanajuato of the University of Guanajuato (UG), among which the presentation of the book "Masculinidades y violencia de género en instituciones Educativas" stands out.

A reminder, the objective of commemorating the International Women's Day at UG, is to promote gender equality in Mexico, as well as to present to the student community the Institutional Program of Gender Equality (UGénero).

The book was coordinated by Dr. Claudia Susana Gómez López, Director of the Division of Economic Administrative Sciences (DCEA) and Dr. Ma. Aidé Hernández García, a professor-researcher of the Division of Law, Politics and Government (DDPG).

In her comments to the text, Dr. Gómez López noted that the structure of the book consists of 14 works that have that conductive thread of higher education institutions; the first six chapters focus on the state of Guanajuato and discusses the issue from different perspectives, including statistics, which makes it possible to approach the problem in a multidisciplinary way.

The other works that make up a second section, she said, come from colleagues from higher education institutions in the State of Mexico, Aguascalientes, Puebla and Michoacán, which was also a way to approach sister institutions.

For her part, Dr. Ma. Aidé Hernández García revealed that it was a very large project and fortunately resources flowed for the text, supported one hundred percent by the University of Guanajuato, so a good academic work was achieved and left the university in a good position at the national level with the issue of masculinity.

In that sense she reflected on the different concepts, such as equity, parity, which somehow lent themselves to inequalities, so now we talk about equality, a topic in which many analyses forgot about men.

However, she said, gender-based violence and political violence will continue if you do not work with men, who have a space that history and society has given them and do not understand or familiarize with the interest of women to participate; and that is where the idea for the subject of the book came.

These activities were organized by the student groups "Kaizen" and National Association of Students in Civil Engineering Guanajuato (ANEIC GTO), who also promoted the conference "Deconstructing the genre" taught by Aurora Hernández López, Coordinator of the United Nations model of the Universidad Iberoamericana de León, who is also a seminarian of the diploma in electoral law of the Electoral Institute of the State of Guanajuato, with the module "Empowerment of women".

In this conference, the rapporteur spoke of the demystifying of feminism, the process of empowerment of oppressed groups and the analysis of the components of sex-gender codes, gender-based violence and the constraints generated by stereotypes and roles of gender, which generated a dialogue and exchange with the public.

Also developed the Panel "Do this also happen to men?", in which participated the psychologist Eber Sosa Beltrán, who has experience in the prevention and treatment of sexual and gender-based violence; Aurora Hernández López, Coordinator of the United Nations model of the Universidad Iberoamericana de León; Lic. Erika Hernández Castro, member of the Committee on Gender Equality and responsible for the UGénero window.

There were also María Isabel Arroyo Molina, president of the Kaizen Student organization, which seeks to disseminate the objectives of sustainable development of the UN Agenda 2030, in particular "gender equity". She is a graduate student in quality management and productivity.

Likewise, Paola Eugenia Orozco Rodríguez, sports Director of the National Association of Civil Engineering Students, Guanajuato delegation, student of the 6th semester of Civil Engineering and, as moderator, Pablo Alfredo Damián Medina, a law student.
